Julian Griffin, UTSA

Julian Griffin is in his fifth season as UTSA’s running backs coach and NFL Liaison, having joined the staff in December 2019. During his tenure, UTSA has achieved a 39-14 record, won two conference championships, and made four consecutive bowl appearances, including their first bowl win in 2023. Griffin’s guidance has produced record-breaking performances, including Sincere McCormick’s All-America campaigns in 2020 and 2021, and developed standout players like Kevorian Barnes, the 2022 C-USA Freshman of the Year. In 2023, UTSA’s rushing attack tallied 1,849 yards and 23 touchdowns, led by Barnes, Robert Henry, and Rocko Griffin.

Before UTSA, Griffin was an offensive quality control assistant at Arkansas and SMU, where he contributed to top-20 offenses and mentored future NFL players like Courtland Sutton. He also coached at Central Methodist, ULM, and Texas A&M-Kingsville, producing all-conference players and future pros. A former ULM wide receiver, Griffin earned CFL tryouts after a standout college and high school career.
