Buck Pierce was named the 28th head coach of his original CFL team on December 3, 2024, after a successful decade-long tenure with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Pierce served as the Bombers’ running backs coach (2014-15), quarterbacks coach (2016-19), and offensive coordinator (2021-24), leading the team to two Grey Cup victories (2019, 2021) and five consecutive Western Division championships (2019, 2021-24). Under his guidance, Winnipeg’s offense excelled, with players like Zach Collaros and Brady Oliveira earning CFL awards, including Collaros’ Most Outstanding Player titles in 2021 and 2022.
A former New Mexico State standout, Pierce played professionally for the BC Lions, where he earned a Grey Cup ring in 2006. He also led the Bombers to a Grey Cup appearance in 2011 and ended his career with BC in 2013. Pierce is ranked in the Lions’ top ten for passing yards and completions.
