Ameer Ismail, Edmonton Elks

Ameer Ismail is a seasoned football coach with experience across NCAA Division I, III, NAIA, arena football, and the CFL. A Lansing, Michigan native and former All-American linebacker at Western Michigan, Ismail set the NCAA single-game sack record (6) and led the nation in sacks (17) and tackles for loss (26) as a senior. His pro career included stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hamilton Tiger-Cats (CFL), and three standout seasons in arena football, where he set IFL records for tackles in a season (167) and per game (11).

As a coach, Ismail has held head coach, defensive coordinator, and position coach roles. He led the Iowa Barnstormers to an 11-5 record and was named Arena Football Head Coach of the Year in 2018. His collegiate coaching experience includes defensive coordinator roles at Wilkes, Judson, and Hinds Community College, as well as a defensive analyst position at his alma mater, Western Michigan.
