Rhett Lashlee, SMU

Head Coach Rhett Lashlee has revitalized SMU football, completing his third season in 2024 with an 18-9 career record. In 2023, he led the Mustangs to an 11-3 record, an AAC Championship, and their first final AP Top 25 ranking (22nd) since 1984. SMU’s nine-game winning streak was the program’s longest since 1982, and Lashlee earned multiple national coaching honors.

Quarterback Preston Stone led the offense with 3,197 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, while the defense posted 47 sacks and led the FBS with five defensive touchdowns. The team’s 542 points were the second most in school history. Lashlee led SMU to it’s first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.
