Mike Krysl, Houston

Mike Krysl joined the University of Houston football staff in January 2024 as Senior Special Teams Analyst before being promoted to Special Teams Coordinator in June. He arrived from Tulane, where he helped the 2023 special teams unit rank 7th nationally in kickoff return average and 22nd in punt return average, with two All-AAC return specialists and Honorable Mention punter Will Karoll. Prior to Tulane, Krysl was special teams coordinator at Samford (2022), where his unit led the nation in punt return defense. He also spent two seasons as Special Teams Analyst at Arkansas (2020-21), where kicker Cameron Little earned FWAA Freshman All-America honors.

Krysl served as Special Teams Coordinator at Army West Point (2018-19), leading units that ranked top 20 nationally in categories like net punting and punt return defense. He also had stints as special teams coordinator at Samford (2016-17) and director of player development at Georgia Southern (2014-15), assisting in the Eagles’ first-ever bowl win. Earlier roles include coaching offensive line and tight ends at West Virginia State (2013) and serving as an offensive coordinator at Lexington High School (2012).
