Brian Gamble joined UTRGV football as assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach in March 2023. Prior to UTRGV, he spent two seasons at Texas State, where he helped the defense set program records for total and scoring defense. Gamble also coached linebackers at Louisiana Tech from 2018-2020, leading the team to a 10-win season, including a historic 14-0 win over Miami in the 2019 Independence Bowl. His coaching career includes a successful stint as defensive coordinator at the University of the Incarnate Word, where his defenses ranked among the top in the Southland Conference.
A standout linebacker at Texas A&M from 1999-2002, Gamble earned Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors and totaled 341 tackles. He began his coaching career at Kilgore College in 2004 and later worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Houston, contributing to the 2006 Conference USA Championship. Gamble brings a wealth of experience in developing strong defenses and guiding teams to success.
