Kevie Thompson is in his third season as the defensive coordinator and secondary coach at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC). Under his leadership, EMCC has won back-to-back MACCC championships and finished as runners-up in the 2022 NJCAA Championship. His defense has ranked among the nation’s best, finishing third in NJCAA interceptions (2022) and sacks (2023). Thompson has helped more than 30 players move on to four-year universities, including seven who signed with Power Five programs, and has coached 20 all-conference defensive players.
Thompson has coached at the high school, junior college, and university levels, including roles at the University of West Alabama, Hinds Community College, and Starkville High School. He was a 2021 Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Intern with the Los Angeles Rams. Thompson, a former defensive back at Jones College and Southern Miss, holds a bachelor’s degree in education from USM and advanced degrees in educational leadership from William Carey University.
