Pete Rossomando, with 30 years of coaching experience, became Lamar University’s head football coach in December 2022. In his first season, he led the team to one of the nation’s biggest turnarounds, guiding them from a one-win team to a contender, marking their best conference start since 1967. The Cardinals earned their first winning season since 2018, and Rossomando was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award. Under his leadership, Lamar produced seven All-Southland Conference selections and received Top 25 poll votes for the first time in years.
Rossomando has previously served as head coach at Central Connecticut State and New Haven, leading both to playoff appearances and conference titles. He has also coached at Charlotte, Rutgers, and Vanderbilt. A four-time conference Coach of the Year, Rossomando was named the 2012 Liberty Mutual National Division II Coach of the Year and has been part of seven conference championships.
