Following the retirement of Marty Schaetzle, Ryan Riemedio has been named the next head coach of the Mercyhurst football program. Currently serving as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator, Riemedio has been with the Lakers for ten seasons and brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role.
“Ryan has the skill, leadership, and relationships to build on Marty’s legacy and propel the program forward,” said Director of Athletics Brad Davis. Riemedio joined the staff in 2012 as a graduate assistant before advancing to Defensive Line Coach in 2014 and Defensive Coordinator in 2019. His résumé also includes participation in the Bill Walsh Minority Fellowship Program with the Philadelphia Eagles. “Ryan’s football knowledge and ability to build strong relationships make him the perfect choice,” added Schaetzle.
